Windows - Mozilla Thunderbird

This article provides details on how to resume email service on the Mozilla Thunderbird email client on Windows, after your email account has been migrated to Microsoft Servers.

 

Once your email account has been migrated to Microsoft servers you will receive a notification that login to the server has failed.

Click 'Cancel' as we need to update the settings manually.

In the top menu bar Click on 'Tools' --> 'Account Settings'

  • On the left side column click 'Server Settings'
  • Update Server Name to:    outlook.office365.com
  • Select Port:                      143
  • Connection Security:         STARTTLS
  • Authentication method:     Normal Password

 

Next we need to update the Outgoing Server.

  • On the left side column click 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)'
  • Click on the Outgoing server
  • Click on 'Edit...'

A new window will open, update the following fields:

  • Server Name:                  smtp.office365.com
  • Port:                               587
  • Connection security:         STARTTLS
  • Authentication method:    Normal Password
  • User Name:                     Full Vicbar email address

Click 'OK' on the SMTP Server window and then 'OK' on the account settings window.

Click on the 'Get Messages' button.

Normal email service will resume.
